The 2023-24 CBTS Distinguished Speaker Series will be wrapping up this fall with presentations by Peter Swartz, Chief Science Officer of Altana, on September 23, and Richard Kiy, President, and CEO for Institute of the Americas, on October 24. This season’s series was comprised of about a dozen webinars that reflected on different issues surrounding North American integration. The series was developed in response to remarks given by Alan Bersin, former Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, at the 2023 CBTS Annual Meeting.
This year the CBTS Distinguished Speaker Series was guided by Dr. Tom Long, a Reader in International Relations at University of Warwick and Affiliated Professor in International Studies at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia in Mexico City. He generated valuable insights by bringing in experts from various fields to share their knowledge and perspectives on North American integration. Presentations covered critical issues, challenges, and opportunities facing North American supply chains. Topics focused on historical, current, and future regional interconnections in labor markets, policy, finance, energy, infrastructure, AI, and regulation. These talks explored the impacts of efforts to re-shore and near-shore supply chains, as well as how governments may or may not adapt to changing geo-economic realities.
