Announcing the CBTS Annual Meeting

CBTS is pleased to announce that our 2025 Annual Meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 1, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST. This year, we will convene the meeting in-person at Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government & Public Service in Washington D.C. As in prior years, the meeting will feature ongoing research and education project updates, along with a review of the Center’s achievements and strategic plans.

Expected meeting highlights include:

  • The Center is inviting its Advisory Board members to attend and join in meaningful discussions with our DHS Board of Directors, project stakeholders, and staff.
  • Dr. Diego Marroquín Bitar, the inaugural Bersin-Foster North America Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center, will provide a keynote address on the prospects for and possible changes to the USMCA under the new administration.
  • Leaders from the Office of University Programs at DHS Science and Technology Directorate will attend and provide critical feedback over the course of the day.
  • The day will close with a discussion of the Center’s progress on addressing the 2024 Biennial Recommendations, its student and workforce program goals, and our “Borders of the Future” research agenda for 2025 and beyond.

Additional meeting information

The CBTS Annual Meeting will be adjoined by two additional meetings. Prior to the Annual Meeting, the Systematic Mapping of Consequences of Disruptions to Global and Domestic Food and Agricultural Systems project led by Kansas State University and Oklahoma State University will highlight their initial findings and seek guidance from stakeholders about the need for any project course corrections. Following the Annual Meeting, the Borders of the Future project led by the Migration Policy Institute and Massachusetts Institute of Technology will hold a session with stakeholders to highlight major findings and reactions to subsequent roundtables.

CBTS will provide a virtual link to the Annual Meeting Sessions for those who are unable to travel to Washington. If you have any questions or want additional information, feel free to reach out to CBTS at CBTS@ag.tamu.edu.
